another ASUS VivoBook s14 laptop i.e. the S432FL. This Vivobook S14 has got high-end specs, a lot of features and an aesthetic look. Of course, the most amazing feature is its second generation Screen pad, which adds more fun to everyday life.

This ASUS ViviBook s14 features a speedy 10th generation Core i5 CPU along with an enormous 1TB storage and 8GB memory. To makes things more interesting, ASUS has loaded it with NVIDIA dedicated graphics. The presence of such heavy specs only means one thing, you’ll get the job done without any hurdles.

We have evaluated its design, functionality and hardware performance to test its strengths and weaknesses. Continue to read in case you are interested in buying this powerful ASUS VivoBook s14 laptop.

Specs sheet

  • Processor: Intel Quad-Core i5-10210U (10th Gen.) / 1.6GHz Max. Turbo Speed 4.2GHz
  • Display: 14-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Resolution
  • RAM: 8GB Storage: 1TB SSD
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce MX250 Dedicated (GDDR5, 2GB)
  • Weight: Around 3.08lbs (14kg)
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home

Design

ASUS VivoBook s14 S432 comes with a plastic body and aluminium lid with a matte finish. Overall, this is a good design and build that provide essential sturdiness. On the other hand, the matte finish helps you avoid fingerprints on your laptop. ASUS has gone with the ErgoLift hinge mechanism that offers more space for breathing to its fans.

We found its lid to be a bit stiff as we were unable to open it with a single hand. The bezels around the display are very thin and offer a better visual experience to the user. In addition, there is an IR face recognition system that ASUS has mounted on top of the screen.

ASUS VivoBook S432FL is slightly lightweight and weighs around 3.08lbs (14kg) with an 18mm profile. We found the laptop to be aesthetically pleasing and it grabs your attention as soon as you lay your eyes on it.

Display

ASUS S432 is another 14-inch VivoBook with IPS FHD diagonal display and screen resolution of 1920 x 1080p. With a 16:9 screen ratio (and 80% screen-to-body ratio), its screen offers 157PPI pixel density and a 0.161x0.161 mm pitch. The screen became retina when we viewed it from a distance of around 22 inches.

We found the average screen brightness around the screen to be 231 nits, which is good for such a laptop. Thanks to GeForce MX250 dedicated graphics, the screen offers crispy visuals with lively colours. We played “DOTA 2” to test its frame per second ability and were able to get 40fps with normal settings.

Keyboard

Keyboards are usually of good quality on ASUS VivoBooks and the S432 is no different than other models. It features a backlit keyboard with white lights that has decent key travel and offers a clicky yet quite feedback. But the most amazing feature on the keyboard deck is the ScreenPad.

The S432 is an ASUS VivoBook S14 with a screen pad (second generation) which is surprisingly big. Not only it comes with a great resolution (2160 x 1080), but is also comparatively bigger than other Windows laptops. You can switch the ScreenPad into a regular touchpad or a second display with the “F6” key.

ScreenPad features

The ScreenPad on ASUS VivoBook S432 can be used to watch videos and to assign shortcuts. You can put any app on this ScreenPad to make things easy for you. We put the calculator and Spreadsheets on it and really enjoyed its work. Another amazing use of the ScreenPad is that you can virtually write anything on it with your fingertips. The writing is automatically transcoded into text - pretty cool, isn’t it?

Connectivity

We found the port selection on ASUS VivoBook S432 satisfactory and acceptable. The ports are scattered on both sides of the laptop and pretty much cover everything. It houses two USB 3.1 (one Type-A and the other Type-C) ports, an HDMI output, an audio jack and a power plug.

On the left side of this ASUS VivoBook s14, there is a MicroSD card reader slot and two traditional USB 2.0 (Type-A) ports. All in all, this is a decent selection of ports, but lack of Thunderbolt 3 spoils the fun.

Performance

ASUS VivoBook s14 S432 features a quad-core Whiskey Lake processor that can offer a clock speed range from 1.6GHz to 4.2GHz. This is a core i5 CPU that paired with a massive 1TB SSD storage drive and an 8GB high-speed RAM. Additionally, there is a 2GB GDDR5 dedicated GeForce MX250 graphics card to ensure smooth performance.

This is a power-packed combination of specs that can run heavy software without showing a lag. The S432 is capable of handling any tough task that you would throw on it. Whether you are a creative professional who often works on graphics or an avid gamer, the VivoBook S432 can serve you well.

Its 10th generation i5 processor works perfectly well with the 8GB memory, while the SSD storage drive lets you access the data in less than a second. The presence of a huge 1TB storage means you could stock and pile up years of data on this ASUS VivoBook s14 laptop.

Battery life

ASUS has added a 42Wh battery on this VivoBook s14 and claims it can keep the system alive for long hours. We found the claim to be true, as we were able to get 9.5 hours of battery life while browsing on the internet. This is more than enough for customers who need a laptop to prepare assignments worksheets.

Verdict

As an entry-level laptop, ASUS VivoBook s14 S432 is a marvelous creation and an ideal laptop. It covers the needs of a much wider audience, including students, IT professionals, businessmen and freelancers. Not often we get to see a 10th generation i5 CPU, a colossal 1TB SSD storage and NVIDIA dedicated graphics together on a laptop. With a reasonable price tag, this VivoBook s14 offers real value for money.
